Becoming a successful freight sales agent isn’t as easy as it first appears. The world’s most successful agents all have certain traits in common.  After searching carefully, I’ve come up with a list of seven traits which they all have in common. With perseverance and hard work, you can develop these same traits, and use them to turn your freight business into a truly successful one.

  1. Ask The Questions. Don’t Be Shy! – Successful freight sales agents are not shy to ask the questions that must be asked, without being scared of the answer. It’s better to know the ugly truth now than believe that everything is squeaky clean when it isn’t.
  2. Don’t Wait. Do It Now! – Successful freight sales agents don’t hesitate; they’re pro-active and do it right now. They don’t wait to be found.  They don’t wait for someone to come and help. They do it themselves and they do it now!
  3. Appreciate The Small Things! – It can be difficult at times to appreciate and forget about the small things in life, however, the devil is in the details. Pay attention to the details – they are the small steps to greater success, and remember to appreciate them as well.  Successful freight sales agents appreciate how far they’ve come as well as where they’re going.
  4. Take Risks! – Successful freight agents are not afraid of taking risks. The key is to be able to calculate the size of the risk before deciding whether to take it or not.  You don’t get anywhere in life without taking some risk. Having little or no fear of things going wrong, humiliation, losing money etc., is essential to becoming a successful freight sales agent and growing your business quickly.
  5. Have Passion! – It’s easy to believe that successful business individuals are driven by money. However, most will tell you that they’re driven by a passion for their field, love their work, and providing the product or service that they’re offering. After all, if you aren’t passionate about what you’re selling, how can you expect other people to want to buy it?
  6. Have Confidence! – Successful freight sales agents have a tremendously high confidence and belief level in themselves and their business. You can’t expect to sell something which you aren’t totally confident about.
  7. Be Yourself! – It’s easy to spot a fake person, and this is often off-putting in the world of business. A successful freight sales agent is a person who is true to themselves and doesn’t try to be someone that they aren’t. While you should be able to hold strong business relationships, it doesn’t mean that you have to like everybody. So, don’t attempt to be someone that you’re not.
